Terms of use

Version 1 · effective October 21, 2026 · written in plain language and not yet reviewed by a lawyer. We'll post any change here with a new date.

By using braceforit.com you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Not an emergency service

Brace For It is a planning tool. In an emergency, call 911. Follow instructions from emergency officials, the National Weather Service and your utility over anything on this site.

Official sources come first

Brace For It never issues its own Watch or Warning; those come only from the National Weather Service or your utility. Our statuses, countdowns and step lists are estimates built from public forecast data and may be late, incomplete or wrong. When forecast data is delayed or unavailable, we say so and show the time of the last good data rather than guessing.

Information, not professional advice

The site gives general preparedness information drawn from public guidance such as Ready.gov and the CDC. It isn't engineering, insurance, legal, medical or financial advice. Ask a qualified professional about your home, your insurance and your health.

Your readiness score

The score reflects the steps you tell us you've done. It isn't a guarantee of safety, an inspection or an insurance rating.

What you send us

If you send an idea or comment, we may use it to improve Brace For It without paying you. Please don't send personal details about yourself or anyone else.

Using the site fairly

Don't misuse the site: no scraping at volume, and no attempts to break or overload it.

No warranty and limited liability

The site is free and provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, Brace For It and Carey Creative Enterprises aren't liable for any loss or damage from using or relying on the site. If we're found liable anyway, our total liability is limited to $100.

Changes and law

We may update these terms and will post the new effective date here. California law governs, with disputes heard in the courts of Sacramento County, California.
