A go-bag for each person

  1. Pick a person. Their list fits their age and needs.
  2. Tap each thing as it goes in. It saves on this device.
  3. Pack shared things once. Keep every bag by the door.

Why a bag for each person

When it’s time to leave, there’s no time to gather. A bag by the door is ready when you are. One bag each splits the weight, so everyone carries their own, even on foot. And no one’s medicine or glasses sit in someone else’s bag.

Ready.gov: pack a go-bag you can carry if you leave on foot, and make sure everyone knows where it is. Ready.gov

Where to keep the bags, and when to check them

Where they go

One spot by the door that everyone knows. Decide who grabs the shared bag and the pet bag. Pack things in airtight plastic bags, then in a bag each person can carry.

When to check them

Once a year, and when your family changes. Replace medicine, food and batteries past their dates.

Staying home instead

For riding it out at home, keep 2 weeks of water and food. The kit builder works out how much.
